Welcome to Jeff Pulver’s 140 Characters Conference! (#140conf)

The 140 Characters Conference: Small Town will return to the Historic Fox Theatre on November 8, 2012.

This is the only international “high tech” event addressing small town issues and actually held in a small town. While Hutch isn’t a very small town at 40,000 people, it is smaller than the other host cities (New York City is 8 million and Tel Aviv is 3 million) and is large enough to host this international event. In 2011, people from 17 different states, Portugal and Canada participated. In 2010, 214 attendees from 12 states made it the 4th largest of the 10 separate 140 Conference events held that year.

There is no dividing line of population for participation. People from small towns, rural areas, outlying suburbs and exurbs will join those from metropolitan areas and micropolitan cities, all participating in the discussions.  If you are excited about small towns and want to be part of the discussion, we want you to join us.

What’s different about 140Conf?

The #140conf events provide a platform for the worldwide online community to: listen, connect, share and engage with each other, while collectively exploring the effects of the emerging real-time internet on business. It creates serendipity in talking to each other, sharing ideas across industries, and exchanging thoughts with people like you and not like you. To put it in rural terms, we’re going to cross-pollinate some ideas. Or think of it as hybrid vigor: your new ideas are much stronger than the ideas that brought them about.

Our schedule will be unique and fast paced. It is our intention to provide a platform for as many people as possible to share their thoughts and engage in conversation with the attending delegates. You will find individual talks of 10 minutes and panel discussions of 15 minutes.

The take aways from this event will provide the attending delegates knowledge, perspectives and insights to the effects the real-time internet will have on both “we” the people, business and society.
